Hi. I know it can vary wildly but can anyone give me an idea of average costs for a re-mortgage from a solicitor.
We have Had one quote but seems expensive and not sure we need every service they have quoted for, for a re-mortgage. Can anyone provide advice. Screenshot attached of quote item

Those are all standard required items. You could of course choose a lender which throws in free legals (or a contribution to fees) if you want to keep the costs down and aren't fussy about which solicitors do the work.

Does your current lender not have any suitable retention deals?0

A lot of lenders offer free legals as part of a remortgage. I'm assuming whoever you are using does not?0

Nope. Unfortunately they couldn't match some of the other providers.getmore4less said:Does your current lender not have any suitable retention deals?0 -
They have a contribution towards legal costs. I just want to ascertain average legal costs of a re-mortgageRelievedSheff said:A lot of lenders offer free legals as part of a remortgage. I'm assuming whoever you are using does not?0 -
Well, get more than one quote for a start. I don't know how much Shoosmiths are quoting you but they are one of the big corporate firms, so I'm not sure they'll be all that competitive for a one-off residential remortgage.Coldred said:

I just completed a remortgage with Barclays and had to use their conveyancers (who were terrible) and paid £500 legal fees if that helps. Didn't get any say in the matter of who to use for the legals either.1
