O/S Daily Sunday 2 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning all
I am surprised we have not been started already hopefully you are all having a good lay in and not (like me) had a really bad night and have not long been up ! We did 12 miles on the bikes yesterday and I still could not sleep, will try again today or have a long dog walk and see if that helps.
Dinner tonight will be a bbq we have some burgers left and I bought some fresh hot dog sausages reduced from waitrose which were lovely so we will have those as well.
OH cut the grass yesterday which looks much better due to us having the sprinkler on it but it still has bald patches on it so we need some more of the weed and feed stuff but it is getting there.
Will do a quick swish and swipe this morning of downstairs the rest can wait till tomorrow.
Have good days all xx
Oh I meant to say I stopped disinfecting my shopping a couple of weeks ago it all became a bit too much.13 -
Morning everyone. It's a slow start here even though I've been awake for ages. My night was a bit disturbed, just awake for ages in the middle of it, no idea why.I've never washed or disinfected the shopping, just used hand gel or washed my hands before and after putting it away.DM's shielded friend came over for his first official unshielded visit yesterday. They played Scrabble before doing the crossword so it was a very quiet afternoon punctuated only by tea and cakes. I spent the time reading and watching TV. Such slothI hope that everyone is doing at least OK. Happy Sunday to all. 😘13

Morning
Rubes that bbq sounds so good ...on my way
I confess .....I never have disinfected shopping
Up early to today. Wanted to get the bedding off and washed. I bought a new duvet which I'm currently not convinced about. Not cheap in fact a bit eye watering from J lewis but looks nowhere near the quality of my old one. Will need to try it before grumping though
Making yorkshire pud wraps tonight so need to get the mix done and in the fridge soon
Have a lovely Sunday all12 -
Morning All
I've been up for ages, took a cup of tea up to bed and have been doing crosswords, chatting to a friend in Oz and generally lazing about. I have had a shower now and am just about to go out for a walk but I see it's raining, will take a brolly as I think it's just a shower.
I have to admit to stopping disinfecting shopping a while ago, such a faff and sod's law the infection would be on a bit I missed anyway. Most stuff goes into the fridge, don't know if it helps but I do wash my hands lots while unpacking.
I had DD and little Sophie here most of yesterday although we did visit friends across the road and walked to another friends in the afternoon so not in the house all day. Sophie is becoming quite the socialite, good to see after the lockdown where she only saw her Mum and Dad. She smiled at everyone, clapped her hands and pulled her 'excited' face!
Nothing much planned for today after my walk, I'll see how the day pans out. Hope everyone's as well as can be, take care. XX11 -
Morning folks and thanks REDRUBY. Sadly I haven't been a lay-a-bed but somehow got embroiled in jobs! The washing was pegged out early and it actually felt quite chilly in the wind. The weather doesn't know what to do this morning, one minute blue sky and the next cloud. There was even black cloud at one point but it came to nowt. The washing is staying out whatever it does!
The phantom freezer messer upper has been at it again with no semblance of order once again. I should get it sorted out as it's at the state where I can't find what I am looking for. The small freezer keeps tidy so I don't know why the bigger freezer doesn't!
I've had to put the dw back on again as, for some reason, the tablet compartment didn't open! Grr! The stuff looks clean enough despite only having been washed with hot water but it's getting a second wash with a tablet anyway to be on the safe side!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning all, the weather is a mixed bag of a day here. The showers didn't materialise yesterday although it went over black quite a few times.Sleep was fitful and I was dreaming a lot last night, but I had to get up and have a cup of tea after one with Boris as my bank manager
I went back to bed and then this morning I woke with a humdinger of a headache, probably I had too much sugar. I think it could be the peanut butter biscuits I made yesterday and I had to resort to putting them in a box and Mr Fix It hiding them from me as I couldn't leave them alone. Dumpling I'm going to blame you for mentioning them
I also can't stop sneezing, everything seems to irritate my nose lately. I've gone from zero sense of smell to 150%, so I think it must be the meds.
DD is coming today to paint our shed and she's ordered her lunchWe'll have the gammon, minted garden potatoes with butter and peas. I'll have some beetroot with mine too that I pickled in the week. I am not painting but on cutting out for her as her new classroom is a bit bare.Takes me back to all the cutting out I did years ago. Most people would knit of an evening, I would be cutting out 30 of this and 30 of that, ahhhhh....those were the days.
I have filled the DW and got that going, then this afternoon we have an As*a delivery and we are still cleaning etc. the shopping. Apparently there are 9 subs, including blackberries for raspberries ( not even close IMO ) and 4 small bread mix for 4 large strong bread flour. The rest are a straight swap just different manufacturers. Never mind they will all be used somehow, somewhere. However in light of the dearth of bread flour in the sm's I have ordered a 16kg bag of flour this morning as it's still like gold dust to get hold of.Take care all, stay safe and keep well, especially those back in lockdown.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -

Morning! Today has been sunny so far [ ish] and I have no plans again today except visit a friends garden later on with the llama. I can't be bothered to wait until Christmas to give it to her, she can have it now.Yesterday I saw the next door neighbour and I gave her some small cooking apples [ had a bucketful] and we had a chat about the bes places to forage, she told me where there are loads of blackberries and another crab apple tree so they'll be getting a visit from me. This weeks cooking up a storm includes rhubarb and vanilla jam [ tastes like rhubarb and custard], chilli jelly, and cooking some apples down for jars, blackberry and apple crumble. I've also got plans for runner bean picallili but I need more tumeric.I am also going to fetch some free stuff tomorrow, a log basket and a fifties light fitting, both will be left outside for me.Yesterday was a bit odd, we went to the annivarsary bbq, we saw a different [ and funnier] side to some people but I wasn't drinking [driving because we didn't want to get a taxi] so couldn't really relax and get into the swing of things. We went at four and were home about half nine..I've just been in the garden pottering, watering tomatoes and beans with all the various containers I'd left out to collect water, taking sideshoots off, taking old leaves off the courgettes [ I tried the courgette, sweetcorn fritters, they were a big hit and we ate the whole lot so luckily there were two on the bush so I nabbed them for more tomorrow - gram flour really works with those]. In my head as I went around I was also chatting to myself in Italian, so I'm going to install the language programme in a minute so I can be all proactive and stuff.I'm not sure whether to go round tor ubys after for her bbq or round to Nelskis for yorkshire wraps because they sound delicious...Anyway, have a good day folks, I'm off to spruce up my italian!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Morning all
Not a brilliant nights sleep last night, seem to have trouble getting off to sleep ATM and then waking early. Never mind, the sun is shining and the early start means that lunch is all prepared, DS1 has invited himself to a roast dinner and to watch the Siverstone Grand Prix so leg of pork is cooking, pigs in blankets & sage & onion done, pots, parsnips, carrots & green beans prepared and the red cabbage with bacon and balsamic made! He also requested some kind of crumble so apple & rhubarb also done.
After all that I don’t think that I will be doing anything else😀
DH cleaning the BBQ from last night and DS3 still not home yet after celebrating his teams win in the football yesterday 🙄
Have a relaxing Sunday
ps also another one who has never disinfected my shopping!46,484 > 0(January)

Afternoon everyone
I had a nice morning with my dad and little one this morning as mam was at church - she was in fine form 'talking' away to great grandad, playing with her toys and pottering around. She is asleep just now. My 2 cats are getting picked up at 3pm by the cattery owner as I'll be away for a few days - problem is youngest cat has gone walkabout. I didn't lock the cat flap when we went out as biggest had gone outside. When we got home biggest was comfy on the sofa and youngest is nowhere to be seen! He's got an hour to come back or I'll have to text her to come later. It's strange cos he's always asleep upstairs on the spare bed at this time.
Going to get a couple of things done before little girl wakes up.
Oh I never washed or disinfected my shopping either.....just washed my hands before and after putting it away.
Hope everyone has a good day
