Trying to buy a
Canon DR-7580 Scanner
Cheapest Ive seen it here is £3126+vat

Its available in the us for
$4395.00 which is about £2200
I dont know how much the charges would be but
VAT added is £385 based on this

OK, first thing you have to work out is how much the shipping and import duty is going to be, as VAT is added on top of that (hence your VAT calculation is off).
Also, you may want to make sure that there's a warranty on the scanner that is valid in the UK, unless you want to post it back to the US at potentially great expense for any kind of warranty work.0 -
You woill probably need the correct transformer.
Not sure I would risk it on such an expensive, large and heavy bit of kit. As has been stated retrns would be anightmare and I imagine you would have to fund it yourself.
These type of machines are normally OK if the arrive working but the big danger is some clot of courier drops in transit and its DOA.
Nice saving though if you decide its worth the risk.0 -
