Help !! I am acting for my Mother as I have Power of Attorney ,I am selling her home as she is now in a nursing home In 1970 my parents had a mortgage with
Sussex Mutual, it was payed off in 1980 I have the mortgage details. Sussex Mutual is no more. Help!

Start here:If the property has been registered then you can get what you need quickly and cheaply using the Land Registry service, don't use any of the many other online services that will charge you £40+ when you can do it yourself in a few mins for about £6...If the property has not been registered (unlikely) then you are going to need professional help so speak to your solicitor.

If the LR proves it to be unregistered, Sussex Mutual BS is now part of the Nationwide BS.
Nationwide might be able to help if they have any Deeds stored - albeit fairly unlikely?0 -
Be guided by your solicitor as to the most appropriate course of action. After 40 years in storage might well take a while to locate.0
