Sick leave and interview

Hope someone can maybe help. I have been on sick leave for 2 weeks as I hurt my back whilst working from home as an adviser. As I was laid up in bed, I completed an application form for another job, which I have received feedback, including a video interview. This only happened today. The job is for a fixed term (potential loan/secondment position) due to the current covid-19 situation. Can anyone advise if I need to inform my employer before accepting the interview? Am I in breach of sick leave policies etc? I'm so unsure what to do, but this job comes with a much higher salary, and they are desperate for staff with my credentials. Please help

What do your sick leave policies say? I don't imagine they spell out that you can't do an interview for another job!0

I should imagine you will be ok to do the interview. Many many people have done so in the past and I would think will continue to do so without speaking to their boss first.
Good luck0 -
No reason not to do the interview, but the other question is how / why you are unable to work from home if you are able to do an interview from home?

If the OP's employer gets wind of it they may well be within their rights to refuse any sick pay using exactly that argument!
Obviously there can be situations where an employee is genuinely unable to do their normal job due to sickness / injury but is well enough to attend an interview. However, based on what has been posted here, I wonder if that applies in this case?0 -
I wouldn't think that doing a let's say one hour video interview, would be equal to working at your desk all day.0

I injured my back at home. I leant into my large chest freezer and sneezed when i was in there. been off work for 2 and a half years now ( stage 2 spondylethisis). The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0
