Had to reapply for job on part time hours and furlough and now salary lowering by 10%

I and 3 colleagues in a dept were recently put at risk and told we could apply for 1 new role. The company then decided that they would take 2 of us on and split the role and therefore the role we went for wouldn't attract the salary as advertised and we would remain on the same salary we had been on previously.
Currently working in this new role on a part time basis with the rest furloughed, i asked how the impending 10% reduction would affect us and was told it was across the whole company for 12 months and they couldn't justify increasing them when they had been able to keep 2 of us on.
This left me pretty anxious, as not only was i not getting the salary i had expected (the role is quite a step up from what i was doing hence the higher salary offered) but now after being furloughed for so long (and on less income) i was only doing 20% of work with the rest furloughed and going to lose 10% from that!
Sorry for the venting and i know i should be grateful that i have a job, but just not sure what i should do.......

Slightly confused but maybe this is just me. So you applied for a job on a higher salary, which now doesnt exist?
So now you are staying on your normal salary with a 10% paycut, but on part time hours?
What are the numbers here as the percentages are a little confusing I feel. what were you on before furlough, and what will you be on after furlough, and what hours before and after?0 -
Your post is pretty confusing. I'm sure you know what you meant, but it's a bit hard for the uninitiated to follow. You've got two options, I guess: decide to stay with your current employer on the basis they are offering; or look for another job. It doesn't sound as if there is anything else you can do. You're the only one who can decide which suits you better - and maybe do some job-hunting anyway to test the water?moveover0 said:I and 3 colleagues in a dept were recently put at risk and told we could apply for 1 new role.
