Are you in England? If so then yes as child benefit can no longer be claimed once an apprenticeship starts

Then your ex will no longer be entitled to child benefit so your liability for maintenance will end.

Don't forget that new apprentices are only paid £4.15 an hour, so although your liability to pay maintenance might end, you might want to consider giving your daughter a "top-up" from what you are no longer paying in child maintenance. If you can afford it, it would be nice to give her half what you have been paying in child maintenance. I would suggest you tell her that it its just for 12 months or until her pay goes up.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • Do I have to continue paying for my son if he has taken a job two days a week? I don't communicate with his mother, so I have no idea whether or I still have to pay her.
