Internet company hard search in between exchange and completion

Hi everyone, quick question for anyone who knows!
We just exchanged today and are going to complete in two weeks. We are super concerned about the mortgage being pulled.
I had planned to use this time to get a new internet contract set up with Talk Talk but I've just read that this involves a hard credit search.
Should we hold off until completion or is this kind of thing usually ok? We need internet so that I can work from home so we're quite stuck!
Thanks in advance :)

I don't understand why you're worried the mortgage offer might be pulled.  Have you misled the mortgage company about your financial position?   If not, why would a credit search be likely to cause a problem?  It's hardly unusual for a new homeowner to set up a new internet contract.
  • Why are you super concerned? At this stage it’s very rare for a mortgage to be pulled.

No need to be super concerned about super fast broadband.

It's just a utility check, not new credit.

Thanks Mickey. We've been totally honest with our lender, so I'm not concerned from that perspective. I guess I'm just worried in today's climate that they'll do another check before releasing funds and see a hard search and query it.
I know I'm probably overreacting, as you say it's normal for people to arrange internet for their new home. We just feel vulnerable right now!

Thanks Sparklestar. It's been a real slog to get here including salary cuts and furlough (all disclosed to bank!) I'm just so worried about things going wrong before we finally get the keys. My brain keeps going "what if..." Thanks for the reassurance :)

We just exchanged and I have just setup a super dooper all the bells and whistles sky tv package. No hard check done as far as I know, but even if there was, as mentioned I'm not sure why they would pull your offer now. As far as I understand it, if you take out a loan on a Ferrari or something that is going to push your mortgage affordability over the edge then that might be a problem, but 50 quid a month on the lecky!? Things would have to have been a real push for it to affect your affordability to the point where your offer gets canned.

Congrats on exchanging! And thank you for the voice of reason.

Mortgage lenders aren't going to be surprised or concerned about somebody getting utilities sorted out around the same time that they're moving house.

i would be weary about changing suppliers until you have completed, if something happens in between or the suppliers screw up, the vendors won't be happy with their internet cut off for example
