Tax on foreign income

Hi everyone, apologies if I've picked the incorrect category.

I've been working on an off as an intern in the US for the past few years. Also during this time I was a graduate student living on a tax free stipend. When I was working in the US I was not receiving my stipend nor was I employed in any other capacity in the UK. Money was paid into my American bank account, and I was taxed as a non-resident alien was taxed accordingly.

After graduating I got my first full time job and I'm now in the process of purchasing a house. I want to transfer funds from my American bank account over to my UK bank account as proceeds towards a deposit. I recently learned I was supposed to tell HMRC I was earning foreign income on a UK tax return, but having never submitted one before, I was not aware of this.

I'm not sure exactly how to proceed here, any adivce?
