11 year old bankruptcy

My wife was bankrupt in December 2009 and discharged 12 months later. After being refused for credit a few months ago she checked her credit file to discover that one company from the bankruptcy had put default back on her file in 2018. After contacting the company they said that this had been done in error but would need a copy of the discharge papers to remove it. The discharge papers will cost £70 for a copy and the company won't get them themselves. Can a default be put back on credit file after 9 years and why do they need a copy of the discharge papers if they would have received a copy 10 years ago?

Has your wife asked the insolvency service for a letter confirming her discharge?

The Insolvency Service will provide a letter, at no charge, confirming your date of discharge. To get a letter you can call the Insolvency Enquiry Line on 0300 678 0015 or email requesting a letter of discharge to discharge.queries@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk .

I was able to get all of my previous creditors to update my files using the letter from the insolvency service, no one asked for an official certificate.
