Holiday resignation stress

I have resigned form my job as it's too stressful. I have 2 weeks hol entitlement to take within the next 6 weeks and wanted my last 2 weeks off. My boss won't let me have the last one off. I asked another senior staff member and he said they'd cope without me. As I m leaving  because of  stress, I really need that time to recover before my new job. I don't think my boss is being reasonable. He didn't even look into solutions, but I found someone who would be interested in bank work to cover my shift if need be. If he refuses me again, despite my protests, what should I do? Thanks

They do not have to allow you that week off. Sorry.

If you’re genuinely stressed then you should call in sick. You can even have just the last week off without a doctor’s note.

Just make sure your boss has provided any reference before pulling that one...

It is entirely the employer's choice whether to allow you to take the holiday or to pay you for the time after you leave.

Only go sick if you are genuinely too unwell to work. Although technically not required for illnesses of a week or less, I would strongly suggest getting a doctor's certificate under the circumstances. If the employer is suspicious (or just being difficult) you could easily end up in a battle to get some or all of your final pay.

If you do go sick last week, they may*have to pay you full pay so take the holiday and have a chat with the Dr. about how you feel so much better and going back will regress you(more workload for the Dr.)

*What is the employers notice to you and the number of years worked?

Is stress going to have an impact in your new role, is it in a different industry?

Go to your gp, tell them you're going mental with stress, cry, get a sick note for the last week. Easy.

(I hope one day we're going to rid ourselves of this idiotic concept which requires us to waste most of our lives doing crap we don't want to do for bits of coloured paper, so that we can feed and clothe ourselves)
