Mortgage fears

My husband has sadly recently passed away. I am ploughing through all the painful paperwork and now in despair over mortgages!! We have 3 mortgages. Two are buy to let and the one I have on the family home. My absolute fear is now what happens with these???....they were mainly based on his earnings. I am planning on paying a large amount off the one that’s on the house I live in. Although payments will still be met by tenants and myself am I in fear of losing everything?? Do they have to access me for a new mortgage or anything? I’m so worried!

Thankyou. No he cancelled it.....which was so unlike him and sadly constantly beat himself up over it the last couple weeks.

Sorry for your loss. I think the mortgage responsibility just passes to you if you agreed joint ownership when you bought the properties (the solicitor would have asked you think upon instruction). With no life insurance you’ll be responsible for continuing the payments I’m afraid. Hope you get everything sorted x

Thanks @KAP0365 I hope this is the case. I’m happy to carry on with payments and lucky enough to be in the position too...I just hope this is the case! x

@emmatink check with your solicitors, also dependent on any will, but think it’s pretty standard if you’re married and we have just had to confirm the split and that all passes to the other upon death for the new house we are buying. Hope you get the help and support you need at this difficult time x
