Hello I recently settled a debt which has been in default since last July. The amount owed was £1152. I originally offered £350 but they said they will accept around £900. I then said my final offer would be £600. They agreed and I paid it and received letter confirming this etc.
As it was only in default for one year , I thought it was good deal. However, a friend of mine thinks I should have offered much much less and waited until they caved in. Because of this virus situation , she thinks they would have eventually accepted a lower offer then £600. Does anyone honestly think this could be the case? Just curious.

Depends who the debt was with, how much you have been paying etc etc. They may have accepted less.0

It’s done, move on. It’s unhelpful of your friend to needlessly speculate and I imagine the stress saved by not having to worry will be worth the £50 you might’ve saved. But from what I’ve read on here you’ve done well. Settled for just over 50% after one year in default...
