Postal Entry myths!

Does anyone really believe that postal entries are included in competitions, i have been suspicious about this for a long time and of course it's not free if you have to buy a stamp. Even on some of those dodgy property raffles "free Postal Entry" is available rather than paying £2 etc, i really don't imagine they would bother to include them but maybe i'm just an old fuddy duddy.

If they are correct in all ways they are included in proper competitions just like the paid entries (ITV, C5 etc) - makes no difference to the promoter if a paid or free entry is the winner. (how itv choose winners has been posted several times in the past).1

I've had a postal entry for a car competition rejected because it didn't exactly fit their requirements, which actually weren't specified exactly in the Ts and Cs. The company running the comp rejected every single postal entry but didn't tell anyone until after the closing date.
There were lots of complaints about it - I think they ended up refunding all the paid entries (not the postage costs though for people who had entered by post) and cancelling the comp.
So, I'd say the larger companies are very likely to follow the rules.
The smaller companies aren't as likely to, so if you do send postal entries it might be worth an email asking them to confirm that your postal entry has definitely made it into the draw, or asking how many postal entries are there.Best win ever: Trip to the Galapagos Islands in 20101
