Change the deposit source

Hi we need to sell our camper van for the deposit. Now our problem is we can't sell the van yet as it needs some work to do. The seller is keen to sell as fast as possible. Can we use a family member's bank account as proof of funds for a few weeks until we sell the van and change the fund source? Cheers

The account isn't yours so you'd be lying and that's fraud.
  • Thanks for the reply. I mean if we use a family member's money as gifted deposit to show the solicitor. However the process will take at least 2 months, during the process we have extra cash, can't we change our fund?

You’d be better off using the gifted deposit and then paying the family member back with proceeds of the van sale?

How would you be getting the proceeds of the van sale? Banking a wodge of cash is unlikely to pass muster for your solicitor's money-laundering purposes.
