Mortgage with a historic AR/AP

We have been lucky enough to have been gifted a deposit to buy our first home together (well I'm a first time buyer, my partner currently owns and will hopefully be selling)however after the initial excitement we realised I'm not quite "good credit report ready" 6/7 years ago I was struggling financially and initially entered a DMP however made arrangements myself with credit card and catalogue companies and set up arrangements to pay. The last payment being made in September 2016. Since then i have been rebuilding my credit, no debt, had a few credit cards since then, balance repaid in full every month. We have an AIP for a mortgage. However, I am so worried that despite us having a deposit and lots of disposable income we still won't get a approved a mortgage because of my history. Am I right to be worried and should I just wait another 2 years for that to fall off my credit file?
Any help or advice will be very much appreciated.

Speak to a broker - if you’ve had no issues since 2016 then that will go in your favour, you may not be able to get the lowest interest rates but as long as you’ve had no problems since then then I don’t think it should be a problem. There are brokers on here but they aren’t allowed to advertise but will be worth their weight in gold for a case like yours and will handle the process for you. Don’t be disheartened there are lots here with settled defaults, CCJs, DMPs. Try searching the forum for related posts
