Hi,
So I received a mortgage offer at the end of June with Santander we used a broker. In my offer 'pack' it just sent out my terms & conditions, valuation report and a covering letter that said about a 7 day period of reflection.
We are days away from exchanging contracts and in the contract it says 'you should have signed and returned your mortgage offer'. I have looked back through my pack and there is nothing in there at all that says about me returning any part of my offer only about the period of reflection if I wanted to cancel.
I contacted my broker this morning who told me 'no don't think you need to do anything, I'm in meetings all day will contact you tomorrow' but surely he should know this and quite frankly I cannot wait that long! Santander won't speak to me as we used a broker.
So please please can someone help me.. first time buyer so I don't really know how things work and I am panicking so much thinking that the offer hasnt been accepted and will be invalid- I will be furious with my broker if he was meant to accept his end.
THANKYOU!!!

I had to sign one paper and return it to my lender to say I accepted the mortgage offer.
Go through every single bit of paper you have from Santander and see what you have and whether there's anything with a section to sign.
Your broker should know, your broker should also not be making you wait until tomorrow about this.

It may be that the papers you have signed and sent back to the solicitors included a copy of the mortgage offer to sign.
Ring the solicitors and ask them. They won't exchange contracts without a mortgage offer being in place, agreed and signed.0 -

I completed last Friday with virgin money and I didn’t have to sign anything to confirm I accept the offer. I don’t know if it’s different as I went direct to lender and not a broker0

It's just generic advice from your solicitor that if you need to return anything to your lender you should do so.0
