  • Guidance published yesterday states...

It is not mandatory for shop or supermarket staff or transport workers to wear face coverings but employers can ask them to do so where appropriate and where other mitigation is not in place

Shop staff do not have to wear coverings but it is 'strongly recommended' that employers ask them to do so unless other precautions such as screens are in place.

    So they can insist.

There is some exemptions I think being unable to breath, would be classed as serve distress from wearing one.

Yep, I would have thought that being on the till where most stores have put up screens around the till a mask isn't needed, but in other areas a mask or visor should be worn.
