This was featured in the money section of the Sunday Times at the weekend. Seems a very good rate, but it says it is available via selected brokers only, but doesn't say who they are.
Anyone know who you can get this rate from.
My existing 3.79% fixed has just ran out, so looking to mimimise the damage.

Did a quick google search but defined the search as an answer instead of a question and got this referral link
Any good?0 -
Clydesdale also do a 4.69% fix rate APR 5.5% deal
Edit: There was a message above mine giving some rates - it's now goneI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yes, it is available via Charcol Online.
Goto http://mortgages.charcolonline.co.uk
Choose best buys
and then "fixed rate" rather than flexible/CAM.
I found this on the Mortgage Introducer website:
Clydesdale offers two and five-year fixes
Clydesdale Bank has launched two and five-year fixed rate products.
The products will be available as Offset or non-Offset with no differential in the rates.
The new products are as follows:
- 2 Year Fixed until 31/07/07 - 4.65%
- 2 Year Fixed until 31/07/07 with switching package 4.69%
- 5 Year Fixed until 31/07/10 - 4.75%
- 5 Year Fixed until 31/07/10 with switching package 4.79%
Beats hell out of my First Direct offset!

Phoned Charcoal earlier today and was told it is only for mortgages over £100k - so thats me ruled out (I'm glad to say)0
-
On second thoughts that seems a bit strange - why can't I take the £100k and offset what I don't need?0
-
You could do that
PROVIDED
a) the value of your home will support the loan
b) your income will support the loan0 -
Ive been searching for this for an hour now :-(
Is it still available? I tried following above instructions but could not find it0 -
Come on boys... someone must be able to help me :wall:0

Hi Smitty:
Had a butchers and you're right, it's no longer there. I guess you could give Charcol a call to see if it's still available.
The talk everywhere is that base rates are on the way down, so maybe is the time to hold off from a fixed rate deal.
I challenged First Direct to justify why I should stay on their SVR offset product with this new Clydesdale deal available. Can't remember all the facts but they came back to me with quite a convincing case incl.
- significant switching costs to Clydesdale (£1,000+)
- offset limits (10% of mortgage value I seem to remember)
FD had clearly done their research - the second point is a major point for me as I have big £££s offsetting i.e. stooze funds and savings that I want to use at a later date for home improvements etc
So definitely not the product for me - might suit others though.
