Help if possible

Not sure if this is in right place but I am really in a pickle....

I had a mortgage with SPML that I closed when I resold my property. This was in 2006!! It was a  RTB property I sold so had to repay 60% of my discount.

@  damn burglars could cost me 25k....

Has your old solicitor still got their paper file? If so, they should have proof they paid the discount back from the sale proceeds.

Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

The terrible issue I am facing is I cannot locate any docs (due to a burglary many years ago) and I desperately need to see if I can find the payment made to the council.  They cannot trace the payment I made, I dont even know who I banked with then.... I have looked on land registry to no avail despite paying 50 for documents.... I dont think I can contact SPML anymore and I am beside myself with worry as I need to prove I paid back this discount asap.  I am in a right percy pickle ....  I think I have exhausted all avenues.... my solicitor tells me I paid the mortgage off but there doesnt appear to be a trace of me paying the discount but I know I did  damn burglars could cost me 25k...
