Mortgage Account Fees

My daughter passed away in March of this year leaving behind a very small mortgage. Her last payment would have been May of this year. I offered to pay the mortgage off until probate came through but was told I would have to pay a £250 early redemption fee so I decided I would wait. Probate is now through although I am still waiting for the same bank to release funds, and they have now said I am liable for £220 to close the mortgage account on top of the outstanding mortgage which they have still continued to add interest on from the date of death. Can this be right?

yes
Virtually all mortgages have a redemption charge and interest is charged until redemption.

Yes, that all sounds normal, whether there's a death involved or not.1

I can't provide any advice unfortunately as I don't know but I just want to say I am sorry for the loss of your daughter. I can't imagine what you are going through. Hope you get everything sorted.1
