I always think the Coop meal deals are just junk food. 🤔☹️

Yes, I popped in to my local co op during the week for something or other and saw the cheese and bought a pack.

They did have some good deals on steaks, earlier in the summer.

Yes, you can be lucky on individual items. I just meant the meal deals
OK for an occasional treat but really not healthy at all.
I've been lucky lately with YS chilled fish. Maybe no one wants to buy the healthy stuff. 🤣

There was a study out recently, which analysed the shopping habits of Brits during lockdown. It certainly showed that many people were buying the ice cream, crisps, chips, chocolate and ready meals. Could be for a variety of reasons eg working from home + home schooling = knackered parents, who just want to bung something in the microwave/oven.

However, cooking at home was up, with lots more baking being done and organic got a big boost too. Not everyone was unhealthy obviously, but there certainly are reports of weight gain.

Well I must have bucked the trend because I strangely stopped eating anything sweet (after a lifetime of eating them 24/7) and was very particular about exercising.

I agree Co-op meal deals are only suitable for occasions when you really feel like abusing your body!

Our little Coop is underneath a student hall of residence which is normally full of students, many of whom are Chinese. I think it's they who normally buy the fish particularly and it seems the stock control hasn't caught up yet. I'm not complaining.

Last time I went to a local (quite decent sized store) Co-op near us was at the start of April; they had barely anything on the shelves, lots of gaps and where not just the odd cans about; so I walked out and not gone back; wasn't impressed.

Would that be around the same time as panic buying & pictures of empty shelves everywhere?
