I am not sure I am doing this right or even if anyone will be able to see it, my first time on here and have only just joined but felt I needed help on this matter.
Have lived in my property for over 3 years now and over the years have been getting the last persons mail,no forwarding address so a few times we have opened the mail and rang the places to say they don't live here anymore etc,got one today was a bit strange as we haven't had any for quite a while, decided to open just to make sure people know they don't live here anymore etc, was a little concerned when I read it as it had this month's date on it and it was regarding the payment holiday during this pandemic, the letter goes on to say something about a part and part loan and that the payment holiday has ended and the amount they still owe etc, worried now in case the previous people who lived here are still using this address to somehow get loans etc it also has a summary sheet of the names on the letter with a different address still in the same area, not sure what to do,I rang the bank on the letter but they were busy and didn't take the call, any advice would be really helpful and sorry if the message is a bit long, thankyou for reading.

Just return the post to sender, addressee unknown.0

Doesn't matter, the loan will have zip all connection to you. Chuck it in the bin or return to sender.0

Don't worry too much - with phone and online dealings its not uncommon for addresses to remain unchanged as paper communication is no longer the only form.
Just return to sender with 'not known at this address'. Sometimes this prompts a provider to make checks as well.
Its VERY unlikely to actually impact on you at all or be a fraud if its a different person's name. If it was in your name that would be a concern but it isn't.
Check the Credit Reference agencies if you like though if it will help your peace of mind.0 -
Loans, cards etc are taken out by individuals, not addresss, it makes no difference to you, just ignore.

First of all, I wouldn't have opened it ('cos that it isn't legal here in the UK), would have crossed out the address and written on the envelope 'no longer at this address' and popped it in a postbox. Even having opened it I'd stick it up with sellotape, write 'opened in error, return to sender' and post it. I'm sure we've all done that thing where we've accidentally opened a letter that's not for us (I do hope it's not just me!) but I definitely would return to sender because otherwise they'll never know that the addressee isn't there any more. And they'll keep sending mail, as they do. Obviously the person it's meant for doesn't want to receive those letters, it's been over 3 years and they've not reported their change of address yet! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
