KAP0365 said:@MovingForwards replied to you on other thread. Phoned NatWest and they said it doesn’t matter as they are over 6 years old and settled, so to continue with the application and not to worry about rescinding the agreement and changing it...
I never clocked your name on this thread as I wouldn't have replied, glad you got it sorted out.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
@MovingForwards no worries, thanks for responding! Still panicking but what will be, will be I guess. Can’t remember being this stressed last time round when the defaults counted - remembering why we used a broker!0

We had an official mortgage offer from the Halifax and had to get a new one when our solicitors where struck from there books, our new offer was denied and we appealed and a new one came through just fine. I did have to supply them my credit file and some further information, this was all before lock down and still took nearly three weeks to come back when we was told 48 hours. Like I said was before lock down and our situation was slightly different as both directly employed but just wanted to let you know not always going to come back as a no.0

Defaults remain on file with the lenders concerned. If you apply in the future to the same lender (many are within groups with different trading names) may yet come back to bite you.Debtfreestudentnurse said:
Defaults fall off your files after 6 years. they won't be visible to lendersKAP0365 said:@Kiwistrawb1990 how long did your application with NatWest take? We have applied and apparently passed credit checks yet my husband has a couple of old defaults (one 9 years and the other nearly 7 years) and we have applied direct. We are home movers but worried it will now decline even though they have dropped off his report? It didn’t ask us to declare anything in the initial application but is asking now and I’m assuming he will still have to declare even though they are old

@Thrugelmir husband had one with Barclaycard (won’t apply with them again even though 7.5 years since settlement) and other was on a timeshare (coming up to 10 years since settlement due to his ex fiancé deliberately not paying it). So not a default on mortgage or utilities or anything like that. NatWest said not to worry but we have asked for it to be noted that he has two old ones as we didn’t want to be seen as liars0

Hello, from start to finish 10 days. We applied through a broker so our DIP was a hard check and then a soft check showed for "identity/affordability" they asked for our payslips the next day and our valuation was booked for 5 days later. Our valuation was on a Thursday and we had our offer by the following Tuesday. Good luck. You shouldn't have any issue with defaults of that age. I'm sure the question was asked "have you had any defaults in the last 6 years" to which I answered yes and it was never questioned. Worth mentioning though that my default was for less than £200 and a mail order catalogue.KAP0365 said:@Kiwistrawb1990 how long did your application with NatWest take? Thank you for your reply, I’m glad you had a successful appeal, it’s nice to hear a positive outcome as all I’ve read are negative ones. I spoke with our broker and they said we should hear either way any day now so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 Financially we are in a good position which makes it all the more frustrating to be told no!Nigelokeefe83 said:We had an official mortgage offer from the Halifax and had to get a new one when our solicitors where struck from there books, our new offer was denied and we appealed and a new one came through just fine. Cannot believe I’m writing this but we’ve won our appeal with Halifax and our mortgage has been approved subject to valuation on Friday! So shocked, but really really pleased. Hopefully the valuation/survey goes well 🤞🏼1
