Hi I joined the gym on the 14th March it was then closed for COVID from the 20th During lockdown I have emailed to cancel my membership but they have said my minimum term of 6 months starts from reopening. Wanting to know
a. If this is correct and
B. If this is the case shouldn’t my 14 day cooling off period also start again on reopening.
just looking for some advice.

It may be a good idea to contact the gym and ask these questions in the first instance. There definitely should be a 14 day cooling off period. The pandemic situation is not normal and they can't expect people to comply with rules they've simply made up themselves. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. What does your gym contract say regarding force majeure/circumstances outside their control?0

Did they take your money whilst they were closed ? Check what your contract says, but it sounds like they are making up their own rules, suggesting 6 months from reopening ? I guess that’s a new rule they’ve just applied, which means they’re making things up as they go, as how did they anticipate a closure.
