Has anyone dealt with Checkmy Ltd - re: lost pensions

  • Just had the same company contact me. Was most insistent I stop driving and pull over to sign the online document which was barely readable. I refused to do so and they said they'd phone back Monday. Guess I'll be barring their no.
  • Just signed up with Check My Serps to try and trace a pension I had 20 years ago. The service is now free and they didn't ask for any money so I can't see how it can be a scam

Seriously? Why are you not doing this with HMRC directly on their own pension tracing service instead? Besides, they do charge you the finding fee if they find it. So not really free. This company is basically using HMRC pension tracing service, which you can do for free yourself.

But then, you must have known all this since you read their terms and conditions, right?

PS: Nevermind, I see few companies have been struck off at several addresses since they could not file the accounts. How dubious... Amazing what you can find on public companies databases this day.

Why don't people use Google. Why not put in Google search trace my pension and look for a .org web address.

    Contact your local trading standards.

Your husband should have discussed this we you and research should have been done before engaging with any firm charging money.

Don't contact them again and if they contact you tell them to ....well you insert the appropriate blue language. When companies like this contact me I ask the person on the other end of the phone "what went wrong with your life that you are doing this?" and then blow a raspberry and hang up.

This is an ancient thread resurrected rather oddly, so I'm not sure why I'm even posting.

But I think it's worth pointing out that a .org website address is no assurance.  Anyone can have one of those.  Even I do.

I'd suggest, in this case, look for a .gov.uk site instead.
