Mortgage advice

Hi,
I’m looking for some advice. Me and my partner have recently applied for a mortgage and got a mortgage in principle approved which is exactly what we need. My partner is self-employed and took the self employment grant from the government, NatWest have now come back saying the max they will lend us £12,000 short of money for the house we have lined up.
My partner has not used the self employment grant, it is still sat in his account as he’s not needed to use it. Is there any way around it? It is it a case of looking for new lenders?
I really hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Carys
