Hi,
sorry I know this is probably the wrong place for this - BUT can anyone help ?
I've got family in Australia & would like to order them presents ( books, CDs, plants, etc) online to be delivered direct.
Does anyone else do this -& can suggest safe/good websites ?
thanks Anne

Hi Anne,
I live in the UK but have used a couple of Australian websites in the past without any problems.
I recently ordered books from http://www.readings.com.au/
They delivered to the UK in just over a week so delivery to Aus itself should be good.
Also, Ive used
http://www.sanity.com.au/ (Aussie HMV) and
http://www.ezydvd.com.au
Had no problems with any of the above! Hope this helps!;)0 -
Hi Anne
I'm not sure from your email whether you have children to cater for but if you have I can highly recommend www.onlinetoys.com.au for children's toys if you need those.
Added benefit is that for a little extra cost you can select wrapping paper and tag and they will gift wrap prior to dispatch (I send a personalised Christmas cardfrom here). Michael deals with all the queries and their communication and customer service is second to none. It means I can spend a little extra on the children because I don't have to factor in the cost of sending from the UK.
The store sems to be similar to Toys r Us and you can accumulate spending points if you register with them. There is a wide selection of all the stores and they will display prices in your local currency so you know what you're spending.

Hi, I've found lastminute.com.au a good start - they have special offers. Also wishlistcom.au- your family can set up a wish list there.Find out their favourite dress shop/beauty therapist and order vouchers on line or by phone? Does anyone have any advice for me-I'm going to be a first-time Granny - my daughter is in Sydney and I'm feeling sad that they are such a long way away?0

I've also used www.beautifulbaskets.com.au for years- lovely hamper presents- they've just e mailed a picture of what they've actually sent, which is re-assuring!

I saved an absolute fortune on my niece's Christening present by ordering form Amazon US - you get twice as much for your money with the dollar/pound conversion at the moment and delivery and gift wrapping charges are also halved. Get them wrapped and delivered straight from the website.
Australians are allowed to 'import' up to $1000 Aus worth of goods regardless of whether it is a gift or not so if your gift is under that amount there won't be any import duties etc imposed either. If I remember rightly it took about 7-10 days for the gift to be delivered.0 -
Thanks everyone for your helpful advice...
Heaven scent - I know what you mean about being so far away - it makes me sad at this time of year especially. I'm sure all this new technology will make it easier !!! I'm not upto webcams but email & digital photos help - maybe you are more 'switched on' ??????
Thanks again
