Hello
just need some advice please with regards to a ccj so i have 2 and I’m trying to sort out as I’m basically trying to sort out so I can hopefully one day of remortgaging so one has £1,300 it from 2018 and was awarded for £2,800 payments are £40 a month hope to pay this off in full soon
but it’s my other one I’m unsure of what to do it was awarded in January 2015 for £6,500 owe £5,100 payments are £20 a month never missed a payment they keep sending me letters offering to except a payment of £2,500 as a way to clear the balance.
apart from the obvious me clearing it and not having a ccj over my head for like another 40 years £20 a month is a easy amount to pay plus the damage was done long ago like I’m I right In saying come jan next year it won’t even be on my credit file no more so apart from the 2 reasons I mentioned Would there be any point in trying to pay off early or just stick to paying £20 a month like I’ve saved nearly a grand so the plan was to pay the most recent or should I be taking up there offer thanks for your help

The 2015 CCJ should drop off your credit file soon, so I'd focus on clearing the one that is newer. It doesn't look good even having a satisfied CCJ, but it's better than a visible outstanding one.

CCJ's drop off your credit file 6 years after they were filed so the 2015 one will drop off your file next year.
As above put your time into paying off the newer one. When this is satisfied it will look better on your credit file. Although it still won't be great of course.0 -
So my ccj becomes 6 years old in feb I think but still owe just over 5,000 I often visit this site have a read lol (work nights) and there’s is a topic of what course of action they can take after the 6 years is up on a ccj I fully intend to stick to the arrangement of paying £20 but is there anything else they can do in my situation as don’t want further damage being done 6 years has been a long time with regards to credit file history.

If they haven't gone for an enforcement option now, they are even less likely after Feb, as they would have to get permission from the court.
If they are offering a settlement deal I would be inclined to go for that if you can. But it's your call. You could try 'I can't afford 50% but I could afford 30%' and see what they say.0 -
They do keep offering me 50% off but I’m currently saving to clear my most recent ccj which was from 2018 have £1,100 left to pay when you say enforcement what kind and are they allowed to do that even when I’m upto date and not missing payments like if I’m keeping to the requirements of the ccj.
And when you say permission like under what circumstances could they get it to pursue other ways of enforcing a ccj that I’m actually adhering to like wonder understand if I wasn’t paying lol
thanks again for the reply really helpful.£2820/£4000 0% 24 months pay £150 HSBC

If the order was for £20 per month and you are sticking t that then the only enforcement they are allowed is a charging order.
A lot of people get a default order and then reach agreement on instalments but never change the original order.
It's not very often that creditors even appply to enforce a 6-year old judgement. I wouldn't give it a thought0 -
If a CCJ is older than 6 years, and you continue your payments, then nothing more will happen, if you stopped for any reason, then to enforce such a judgement again, requires the creditor to go back to court and gain its permission to enforce the debt.Enforcement action includes an attachment to your earnings, bailiffs knocking on your door, or a summons to court to explain why you have not paid, each stage costs the creditor money, but there is no guarentee a judge would agree with them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. So as long as I keep to that payment of £20 regardless how long it is they are unlikely to go down charging order route because seeing that stressing me lol I’ve made sure for the last 6 years that it gets paid and on time so they couldn’t be any come backs
so is this my best course of action try pay the most recent ccj get it settled then Feb this one falls off just trying to get things in order as hope so sell house and move next year
