On furlough since March but now ill question

Hi
ive Been furloughed since March and was blue lighted to hospital end of June where I stayed for 5 days.
sent home and awaiting mri and spinal appointments.  Told I’m not allowed to drive due to the medication and pain. Should I have informed my employer?( My family business and they know I’ve been in hospital)
but should I have still got a sick form and notified them of sickness?

regards

Depends on what you've agreed to in your contract (including any local policy)
  • my contract was from 28 years ago pre children and when I was a office junior.  Never been updated.
    Now part time credit controller.

It's the family business. What do they normally do when someone is off sick? Do they normally require a fit note? If you don't know because this hasn't happened before, ASK THEM!

Without a fit note, they won't be able to notify to HMRC that they are paying SSP.

Probs just keep you on furlough so can't imagine it will be a problem. You can self-certify for 7 calendar days so shouldn't need a sick note unless it continues. I'd update them as to your prognosis.
