    Thanks for your messages.

my main fear was my main card for the last few years ( vanquis ) has now a zero balance and a 4K limit. I wanted to keep it open in case of emergency etc...but I found myself looking at the Apple website for a new iPad Pro..I knew then that I could not be trusted..so I’ve cut it up and closed the account.

to be honest I feel quite liberated at this. Knowing that I can’t spend on it
Well done, i can't wait to get to this stage :)

Well done on getting debt free and for cutting up the credit card as you think you may be tempted.
My tips for staying debt free are budget, anticipate and save.  Always budget every month accounting for all bills, put money aside for food, eating out, clothes, entertainment etc.  Save for emergencies and for specific things like car or house costs or your ipad pro if that is what you want/need.

  • I am aiming for credit card gone by end of September. I have cancelled three cards today. The only reason l had them was for balance transfer offers. I have one card with the current balance and one card l occasionally buy things with for the protection and pay it in full.

I've had credit card debt since l was 18 and l'm now in my 40s. My only regret is not tackling it sooner. I have a small fund for emergencies, which l can start to build up soon. Can't wait to be free of them.
