Should i force my IVA to fail?

Hi all,
I've been racking my brain over this for the past few weeks.. and I need your advice please!  :(
Myself and my husband currently rent a flat, and we now want to take the next step in our lives and get on the property ladder and start a family.
Husbands credit is good. I'm currently in an IVA - and have been for 12 months. (I went into the IVA to reduce my monthly debt payments, not because i defaulted on any payments - defaults have shown on my credit history since the IVA as it wasn't properly sorted out until 6 months down the line...)
All mortgage advice we have received is that my husband gets a mortgage by himself, and then once my IVA is completed, we can remortgage together. The downside is, the maximum mortgage my husband can get by himself is only £25k!
I have been to the citizens advice, and they have suggested a Debt Management Plan with StepChange. I then spoke with SC, who advised that i need to contact my IVA practitioner and request to be released from the contract, and then i can enter a DMP with them.
My debts are roughly £26k, so if i go into a DMP, i would be paying it off for 7 years, instead of the 4 years i have remaining on my IVA.

Would it be worth it to transfer my IVA debt to a DMP with Stepchange, so it would improve my chances of getting a joint mortgage with my husband (would it?) or should i just cut my losses and stick with the IVA?
Has anyone requested to close their IVA with their practitioner and been refused? I don't want to go through all this stress and worry for it to not have a positive impact.
Thank you <3

You can’t request to close an IVA, nor can you transfer it to a DMP, you have to let it fail, usually by non payment, and that can take up to a year to happen, it won’t improve your situation anyway, as the IVA will be on your credit file for 6 years regardless.

You are insolvent, no one will lend to you.

Your creditors can sue for your bankruptcy if you fail your IVA, it’s not as easy as you have been led to believe.
Your best option is to let your arrangement run it’s course, get rid of your debt, and start afresh with a clean slate.
