Damp and Timber Survey but no response from seller

We are in the process of buying our first home in Scotland. Everything was moving fine until a refreshed Home Report highlighted some damp and a leak in a flat roof, the surveyor has requested a specialist Damp and Timber Survey and Roof Inspection/Quote be completed and placed a £5000 retention on the valuation. Needless to say out application has been put on hold until the lender has a copy of these reports. We requested this through our solicitor on Monday and have yet to hear anything back. We have said we will cover the costs and let them book at a time convenient to them but still nothing. Our solicitor says there are delays due to increased demand. Do you think its unreasonable to make contact daily to chase this up?
