Can anybody recommend where I could obtain a good house purchase protection policy?

I'm aware of the Homeowners Alliance policy, however, I have questions I'd want to ask before taking it out, but they're impossible to communicate with. I've not had any of my calls or emails returned over the past four weeks.
I've seen a few others online for around £70 but they come with a £50 excess.
