1 year & 9 months left on mortgage and fixed rate coming to an end

  • Hello Everybody, I thought I would update as we finished paying the mortgage on 1st Feb :). I asked Halifax to look at their figures at the end of the fixed term as I just knew we were paying too much per month (I wasn't disputing the total amount owed ). I couldn't get them to shift their position and didn't want to extend the term, so I just let it go.

I was correct, our last mortgage payment was 1st Feb and the last payment according to their calculations should have been 1st March 2022. They seemed to have belatedly realised this as I had a letter in January recalculating the Feb and March payments so that what we were expecting to pay in Feb (£2,465) would be split into a Feb and March payment. Needless to say, I rejected this and paid the lot on Feb 1st. Am happy to have been overpaying by accident.
