Somewhat bizarre request from Mortgage company.

Hi all,
I am sure we all have had to jump through hoops for mortgage is some way or another. But today my wife and I got an email from our advisor who told us that our potential lender (Platform) have said to her that they will  not release the funds  if an offer is made, unless we both provide two separate phone numbers each.  Now,  we don't have a landline installed. Never have since we moved into our rented flat together 3 years ago. And have no "work lines"  and one phone number each. Has anyone else come across this? Our advisor seems just as irritated with it as we are.

Just get a couple of cheap SIM cards?
Never heard of it before though, or follow the logic.

Provide the other's mobile number as the second number for each of you.

@Bane84 I've had a second charge lender insist on a landline work number in the past. I didn't have one so I just provided the main phone number for the employer.

If you are employed, is there something like that you could provide?

Hopefully the broker hasn't misinterpreted what they're asking for as the request (as stated) seems bizarre.

I used to work for Co-op bank and there was one underwriter who everyone prayed did not pick up the case. No idea if she still works there or not, but if she does I can guess who your underwriter is.

I might be inclined to argue this if I was the broker. But in this case could you just put a parents number on there? Its one of those where you probably just need to pick and choose your battles and this is one that can relatively easily be worked through.

Platform are a pain with this. Just put your work number down or something.

Are platform generally a tricky lender? Do you avoid using them for that reason?

I am happy to my parents number on there. As is my wife with her parents. I've left it with our broker. I Have fill faith in her as she has been brilliant so far
