hazzzz said:On the grounds that I wasn’t advised there would be a credit check?but they then sent me a link to Experian which I filled the details in, and to my surprise, it asked if I had a CCJ. I have one for £300 from a few years ago so I answered yes.
By following that link and answering their questions I think they can easily say you agreed. In any case, even if they had asked you "properly" the result would have been the same.
No doubt if you had refused the credit check they wouldn't have offered you the job in any case. So I come back to what I said earlier, unless you can persuade them to change their mind I think you are stuck.
I am afraid that if an employer chooses to refuse employment to somebody with a CCJ from "a few years ago" that is entirely their privilege.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! They should have mentioned at the beginning of the recruitment process! I don't think there's anything you can do with this company, except give them the feedback that they need to rethink their processes and note how it has impacted you. Good luck on the future job hunt- maybe you could recontact some of the companies you turned down and see if they still have something?0

They should have mentioned it, but if you’re applying for jobs dealing with any kind of finance you must surely have been aware it was a possibility 🤷🏻♀️If the CCJ hasn’t been satisfied, it’d be best to sort that before applying for any more finance jobs.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Hi all just to clarify, I wasn’t aware there would have been a credit check as when o signed my contract it states it was subject to ‘right to work in U.K. and reference check’ and as far as a finance job goes, it’s with a telecommunications so if a payment was taken over the phone, it’s transferred to a secure automated line so I wouldn’t see or hear the payment details. I guess I have to just accept it, but not happy this was not documented anywhere and that they decide to do a credit check after I signed and accepted the contract. I won’t explain what trouble this has caused as it’s not relevant but I’m now in shi* street having waited 4 months to start a job that has now been withdrawn. If they did all these checks at least at the start when I was told I was successful then at least it would have been before Covid took its toll.0

Is it the credit check per-se, or the CCJ which is the issue? It may well be that there are many associated rules defined in the company handbook, or whatever they choose to call it in their case.Whichever it is, presumably the employment would have started on a probation basis anyway, and they can choose to terminate it as and when they see fit.0

fair enough. Can’t believe a CCJ for £150 could be so life changing0

I’d recommend satisfying the CCJ as soon as you can since it’s a small amount.0

It was £300 the times you mentioned the CCJ before. Was there another one?0
