Help me please, offer extension refused

Hi,
I'm trying to help my friend and her partner whom exchanged contracts on a new build in March before Covid was taken seriously and lockdown began. Her partner is a self employed electrician and has been given the grant for the duration, although is now returning to work. Their request to extend their offer has been refused as the bank will not count the grant from government as income. The Bank are stating that my friend has breached the contract and are not budging, leaving them with the very real possibility of losing their deposit and new home etc. Surely there has to be some way to help them get in their new home given the rather extenuating circumstances Covid has unleashed.
Its also worth adding that my friend has been working throughout (she is a nurse)
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your suggestions or advice

If the preferred lender won't lend, they need to look elsewhere.
He hasn't breached any contract, as there was no mortgage in place, so no need to be concerned about that. They just need to get in front of another lender.
Are they using a decent broker?1 -
Will echo the above, the only thing you can do now is find another lender who may be willing to lend.
Your partner being self-employed with a covid-break in business will mean that this is likely not easy to place so do make sure you get a good broker.
Unfortunately, if your deposit is less than 15% , it is going to be a struggle.
Good luck!0
