Changing employers: overlap between jobs

My employment is coming to an end with many accrued leave days remaining. Can I start my new employment while I am still with previous employer utilizing accrued leave or it is better to just finish and take accrued leave payment and go the new employer? What are advantages and disadvantages?

Usually it's at your employer's discretion which way it goes.

If you were on leave then most likely you'd need permission from your current employer to go work elsewhere.

Whether you have to use the remaining leave, or will be paid for it when you leave, is entirely the current employer's decision.  I certainly wouldn't agree to start work early with the new employer without being absolutely certain that you are expected or able to use up the remaining annual leave.
