Bank loans - no new loans being offered by major banks

Has anyone else been told when contacting loan companies that no new loans are being offered, other than emergency loans up to £2,000 for key workers?  Quite a few banks have suggested they were following guidelines from the FCA to do no further lending when COVID hit and now they are following their own guidelines.

Banks are still lending, but criteria have tightened. You might have fallen outside of their risk appetite.

This may well be a blessing in disguise.  Now is probably not the right time for many to be increasing their borrowing.

Banks don't turn their noses up at profits and, if they consider the borrower to be sound, they will lend.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.
