Listerine original

We have noticed it’s been really hard to get hold of Listerine original and have just found out that Johnson & Johnson have discontinued the product. It’s nearly £10 for 500ml on Amazon!  All the other Listerine varieties contain artificial sweeteners and leave a horrible aftertaste. Does anyone know of stockists still selling Listerine original at a reasonable price? Or any alternative without saccharin? Has anyone written to the company to ask why they have done this?? Thanks

Perhaps because most mouthwashes have no clinical benefit. In fact they interact with toothpaste stopping both toothpaste and mouthwash working. Over 90% of mouthwashes are classed as cosmetic.

Also 27% of listerine Original mouthwash is alcohol and there have been health concerns about alcohol in mouthwash.

Any mouthwash should only be used two hours after tooth brushing as you wash away the most important ingredient, fluoride.

You should spit, not rinse after brushing teeth.

As Brook said above, unless specifically mentioned by your dentist or hygienist for a specific mouthwash to be used for a specific condition for a specific time, mouthwash is at best a useless waste of money, and at worst, harmful.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
