Gradual Spray Tanning Advice Needed

Hi everyone,
I'm new to fake tanning but wanted to give it a try and to keep it cheap I am using Dove Visible Glow Self Tan Lotion.
Just after a bit of advice as it also doubles up as a moisturiser, I was going to apply it for a few days this week to build up the tan and then following this, I'll begin to apply it every other day. The only thing that I'm quite unsure on is how often I should exfoliate between this to avoid washing off the tan. I've exfoliated before adding it for the first time, but was hoping someone had tips around this or could give any advice to keep a seamless tan?
