final settlement paid then asked to pay more

HI looking for some help.

My wife and I paid off our seperate loans with Sainsbury's in May, we phoned and received a settlement figure which was valid up until a cetain date which I can't recall but it was at least a couple of weeks. How ever we paid the settlement figure within 24 hours. Forwad to June we receive a bill through saying we have one more payment to make and slapped a late fee on as well. To me this seems wrong as I would of thought when you setlle the debt that is it, we are going through the complaints channel at the moment but any help with this would be great for when they next contact me.

You just need to establish whether the further amount is owed.  If a mistake was made by them, the money is still owed but you would not expect to pay the late fee.

Did you request it shortly before a payment was due and then cancel the direct debit?
