My Jar outstanding Debt Letter
I received an email from my Jar confirming my outstanding balance was £171.50. When I called them with the intention of paying the amount in full, I was told that the amount stated on the letter was incorrect and the balance was actually quite a bit higher. Can I hold the company to the letter for the £171.50 or will I have to pay the higher amount?

Did you actually ask why the balance is higher?0

If it was a genuine error, then no. But it would be reasonable to expect that, having discovered the error, they write to apologise and explain, and give you the correct figure.1

They just said it was a system error. I've had no response from them yet asking what the actual figure is as I have now had 3 numbers quoted, ranging from £171.50 to £404. I guess I'll have to wait for them to sort the system out.0
