Mortgage with defaults

  • Has anyone had a mortgage with NatWest accepted with a CCJ (old and satisfied) and 2 old settled defaults?
We went through Halifax, was accepted and DIP and Full Application, a NOC made them look into our credit and then it was declined plus they said it wasnt in the bank's appetite for HTB and Self Employed. Our broker has recommend NatWest.

If it helps I just got virgin money mortgage offer thru. Instantly accepted online no refer. And offer from application took around 10 days!
    Hello,
Can you please confirm what sort of adverse credit virgin media was looking for?
I have a few late payments from 3 years ago I'm not sure if this will affect?
    Any help will be appreciated

To echo what's been said, I just got my Mortgage offer from Natwest HTB. I had 2 defaults, one from February 2018 (£420) and another from 4 years ago. So happy I had assumed I would have to with a more adverse lender with high interest rates!
    Hi Samual,
Could you please confirm what exact adverse credit you had.
I have 2 late payments from 2 years ago not sure how it will affect my mortgage application

I am currently going through this, I am a FTB and using HTB. I have some silly missed payments from mail-order companies with the last 12 months for a silly £20, now I am thinking this is going to jeopardise everything. I have a lump sum coming which will pay off half a loan and my overdraft and we have a joint income of over £60k plus £13,500 gifted deposit. I am worried that some silly little payments will ruin everything. We have found our dream house, put a reservation down and my MA has told us that there is a lender out there for everyone. I have said if we need to do a higher rate with an adverse lender, so be it.
    Hi Bex,
How did this go? I also have some silly late payments and im scared it will affect my application.

    Hi Natalie,
Was it only a default you had?
I have two late payments and scared it might affect me. How was your experience with them?

If you only have 2 late payments for 2 years ago, you will be fine. I have a natwest mortgage with a default and payday loan history. Don't worry
  • I have had three clients this week who 6 weeks ago we discovered adverse (1 had a ccj and two had default) which they have cleared, waited for credit reports to update and we have now been able to apply

If depends on how big the defaults are (all were under £300) and how long ago they were registered

Congratulations! We were in the same situation. Because of my defaults I didn't want to apply because i was worried it would affect my husbands credit but we went through a broker that was highly recommended and we got a 5 year fixed through Natwest!

    Hopefully moving in November!
  • hello, I am looking to get a first mortgage this year, I have one default that has been settled and due to come off in august. Other than that, I haven't had any missed payments in the last four years. I had some difficulty round about 2016 which is all now sorted, lead to 3x defaults, two of which are settled and no longer on my report and one that as mentioned is due to come off in august.

probably looking at a property in the region of 170k with a 10% deposit.

will the above be an issue or should I be okay?

Halifax have caused me nothing but issues. Likewise, had a DIP from halifax. Explained prior that i had some defaults. Was told this wasn't an issue due to the age. They are all over 5 years old. Submitted a mortgage application, was asked to provide a covering letter to explain the defaults. Was told this was fine. Application was then rejected due to be repaying the defaults. There is no Arrangement to pay markers on my credit file. With one Really am in limbo as we've had an offer on a house accepted, all searches etc done.  Any advice would be appreciated.
