Once you have received your mortgage offer, is the job of the Mortgage Broker done?

I am only asking as our broker was furloughed and has since informed us that she has taken up a job within a high street bank as there was too much uncertainty with her job.

We received our offer in March, have exchanged contracts and will be completing on the 17th July.

Other than the life insurance, which she would have helped us arrange, would there have been anything else that she would have needed to arrange with us? Do I need to contact our mortgage lender to inform them that our broker no longer works as a broker?

  • Pretty much. However, do make sure you have a contact point at the broking firm as if the lender requires anything additional from you (most recent payslip usually) before releasing funds for completion, they will most likely go through the broker.

Sounds like the mortgage broker's career is also done.

That is a good point, I will give the company a call tomorrow to get a point of contact.

A shame as she was a lovely person and a good broker.

The job is done at that stage 90% of the time, but if there are problems you would expect the broker to be on hand.
Most people have questions beyond the offer being issued, but I suppose you can probably get the answers elsewhere.

Thank you. Do you think it's worth me contacting Precise to see if they will require a wage slip or any other documentation prior to completion? If they do, I can get in touch with the company to get another broker who will be able to forward this on for me? Or could the conveyancer do this?
