Notice Period - Contractor
I am a contractor - day rate - self employed.
My contract is coming to an end june 30th (tomorrow)
However, last week wednesday, I received an email from the line manager informing me that the end company is not looking to extend my contract past end of june...
Ive now looked over my contract and both sides (my side and the end companies side.... we both have to give 2 weeks notice)
Clearly, I havent received or had 2 weeks notice, its been less than 7 days....
Based on this, when my contract ends tomorrow, Can I still invoice for the FULL 2 WEEKS? or...? How would this work exactly...?
Any help would be fantastic!

Does that include when the contract is ending anyway? Or for when you wish to leave/end the contract early?0

I am not too sure how to answer that...
But from what it says in my contract, it says 'notice period to be given by consultant company = 2 weeks' / 'notice period to be given by employment business = 2 weeks'0 -
Obviously I can't read your contract in full but would expect that the notice period would relate to an early cessation of the contract and that no additional notice would be required if the contract ran to it's specified end date.1

Your contract is due to end on the 30th June so no notice period needs to be served.1

Notice period for fixed contracts if ending early, you already know the end date of a fixed contract. How long has the contract gone on for?

but like any contract, is the agency or the end company not supposed to tell you 'within ample time', if you will be extended or not...? I only found out 5 days ago that they will not be extending me, but nevertheless, that is 5 days not 14 days....0 -
I think the expectation is that you should be prepared for your contract to finish on the date specified. If it is being extended than a new contract will be issued with a new leaving date.danielsonjones said:

Its annoying they only gave you 5 days notice they wouldn't extend it but there is nothing wrong with what they have done.0 -
Does your contract actually say it is 14 days to end contract or 14 days to end contract early? It would be odd if it was 14 days to end a contract on the date that was specified as this would mean it is an open ended contract0

'Notice Period to be given by Consultant Company: not less than 2 weeks’ notice in writing'

It’s too vague to hold them to something it doesn’t clearly state. As stated, contract end dates exist for a reason.
