increase contributions

Hi   My husband has had a private pension (Prudential) for years and not increased his monthly contributions.  After  a recent visit from a representative we decided to increase his contributions which i thought would be easy.  we were sent a form to fill in which amongst other things asks about his current health.  I did not expect to and object to confirm his current  health as this was done at the time..  He is currently fit and has no health issues,  but i just wondered why  i did speak to the rep and he just said we would have to fill all the form in  has this happened to anyone else

Since it's a private pension I assume it's not connected to your husband's employer so they won't be told details that you give to Prudential. Why do you object to them knowing details about his health? How will this disadvantage you?

For what it's worth I've never had to answer health questions when changing pension contributions, either to my workplace pension or to private ones. I find it odd too, though like I say I don't see the harm in it.

Can you just refuse to answer this question?

Even if you open a completely new pension , you do not get asked any health questions , so the request is a bit odd.
The pension is not linked to a life assurance policy or anything like that , is it ?

I agree with Abermarle - it sounds like either the policy is already linked to health in some way (hence the interest if you are increasing the cover) or they are very keen to sell you some
