Stamp Duty Surcharge Refund

March 2011 - We purchased our first home
August 2017 - We purchased our first and only BTL
July 2018 - We sold our first home, and purchased a new home

I would be very grateful for your guidance please.
As above, we currently own 1 home and 1 BTL property. We paid the 3% surcharge of Stamp Duty on both purchases.
Would we be eligible for a refund of this surcharge if we were to sell our BTL property? Is there a time-limit by which we would need to sell?

It sounds like you shouldn't have paid it on your second purchase (as you were replacing your main residence). Not sure whether you're still in time for a refund.
