The prize:

The winner and a guest will stay for two nights, B&B, in one of Storrs Hall’s lovely Lakeside Suites, on the eastern shore of Windermere.

The suites were launched shortly before lockdown, and offer guests a giddy sense of space, as well as cedar hot tubs, super-king-size beds and floor-to-ceiling windows. The views are either onto the lake or the hotel’s woodland, and the decor takes its cue from both — expect lots of soft blues, greys and browns, as well as woollen throws and stone-clad bathrooms.

In the main house, which was built in the 1790s, the views from the breakfast room are south, straight down Windermere.

Storrs Hall reopens on July 4. The prize includes a dinner for two, excluding drinks, in the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant and must be taken before April 1, 2021, subject to availability, and excluding public holidays and the period from December 19 to January 2.
